my first ebay auction!

I am so skeptical about ebay. You never know if what you are bidding on is legit. But, tonight, I went for it!!!

Since the inception of designer maternity jeans, I wanted to own a pair when I became pregnant. If you know me, even slightly, you know I don't easily part with money. I can somewhat justify my other designer jeans because I get to wear them over and over. Also, I'm pretty sure every pair of jeans I have bought have been discounted, like from Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale or some such event. Anyway, I just haven't been able to justify paying $200 for a pair of jeans that I will only be able to wear 4, maybe 5 months.

So, because of this, I turned to ebay. They have tons of jeans and maternity jeans available for really good prices. Most of the auctions I watched came and went with the bidders going way too close to the original price for me to even consider it. Until today! One pair that I had been watching had no bids and ended tonight! So, with David's excellent ebay bidding skills I won the jeans for a fraction of the price. They are brand new with the tags still on them, I can't believe no one else snatched them up! I can't wait to get them in, aren't they cute? They are Citizens of Humanity - which were my first designer jeans purchase in normal sizes too!

favorite food friday

Alright - this is a throwback edition, get excited.

Like most kids, when given freedom of my dietary selections, I selected items high in nutritional content - just not the nutritional content that is good for you... (details). What I am giving you today is my daily lunch menu while I was in the 5th grade. Let me also explain to you that I was 5'6" by this point already, so I'm sure the extra calories were equally distributed through my growing body.

Beverage of choice: Mountain Dew
This was a great option for a 10-year-old who had an afternoon class schedule of reading, history and spelling. Mountain Dew contains 55 grams of caffeine, the clear winner when compared to the weaker 34 gram Coca-Cola.

Main Course: Andy Capp's Hot Fries
Seriously, for as long as I can remember, I challenge my mouth to a heat-match - just to see how much I can handle. Just this week I ate a sandwich covered in jalapeno peppers while eating jalapeno flavored chips, it was terrific. But, I can still remember the building heat that would occur in my mouth as I ate the Hot Fries one-by-one until the bag was empty. Do they still sale those? I'm getting some.

And for Dessert: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pie
Not ever a fan of the TMNTs, but always a fan of a fried pie! The Ninja Turtle Pie was simply a fried pie filled with custard, but covered with the sugary frosting (and yes, it was green). I can still taste it, I'm pretty sure that was the best part of the day. Well, that and staring at all the dreamy 6th grade boys in the morning.

Happy Friday!

hump day = bump day (week 18)

Bump update! I'm at the end of Week 18 already. Everything is still going great, no new major changes this week. I might have felt the baby move this week, but I'm waiting for it to happen again just to be sure. All the workouts are still going good - I did yoga last week, which was great, and even ran a little this week. So far, I am feeling very blessed about the past 18 weeks. So many people have such a rough road in the beginning and I truly feel lucky. Most of the time I feel like my normal self, until I roll over on my tummy to hit the snooze button - then I feel a little different. Even when David was taking the pictures today I kept having him take more - it just doesn't look like me in the photos! But, I'm slowly starting to come around - in more ways than one! Here's this week's picture! Happy Hump Day!

hump day = bump day (week 17)

Well, a few of you have been asking if my belly is growing and wanting to see pictures. I'm not sure if this is because you want to see me get fat or you really care about our baby's progression - I'm going to go with the latter. Anyway, I thought it would be appropriate to post my "bump pictures" on "hump day" - clever, I know.

Everything is going great so far. We are finishing up Week 17 this week. Apparently our baby boy has been growing nails and hair this week. And, soon I should feel him move. David's still waiting and hoping that I get over my opposition to meat - it's making dinner time a little difficult... Otherwise, nothing else major has been done. We haven't decided on any names. I picked out a couple cribs last week and am still searching for the perfect bedding and decor. If you see any cute boy stuff, send me links!!!

Okay, here's the picture. I ended up taking one myself. David took a few, but I just didn't like them. We'll get better at this as we go along. We've got another 23 weeks to get it perfect!

favorite food friday (saturday edition)

KRISPY KREME DOUGHNUTS
Let me start by saying, I am generally a healthy eater. When I splurge, you guys get to know about it! I love me some Krispy Kreme doughnuts, but I don't let David get them for us too often. And most of the time, it is hard to pass up getting the dozen for just a dollar more!!!! Pretty sure these are mostly gone now - but, I'm saving that chocolate covered custard-filled one in the corner for last!!! Happy weekend.

favorite food friday

It's that time again, Friday! This week is a good one. Growing up, like most kids, I loved sno cones. Seriously, Jaime and I would even get pickle juice sno cones at the baseball games... wonder if I'll start craving those again. Anyway, for years now, David and I have heard about The Sno Cone Lady here in Frisco. There is always a line (see pic below) so we've never stopped before. But, we finally decided to go last Sunday. It was awesome! I mean, it is kind of hard to mess up a sno cone, but it was really yummy. I got Dreamsicle (orange and cream) and David got Cherry. I think we waited at least 30 minutes, but for $1.25 it was well worth it - and I'll do it again this weekend!
the line

they only gave us straws, next time we're taking our own spoons

a little game i like to play

So, before my dear friend, Lindsey, abondoned me and moved to a different state (no worries, she finally made it back) we use to play this little game at work. While we would stand at the microwaves to wait for our lunch to heat up (yes, it's so "Office Space" around here) we would pick an item from each row in the vending machine. I must say, I was always a little surprised with Lindsey's answers. Neither one of us ever actually bought anything, but it was fun to live in a world with no calories or fat grams. See my picks below!

Row 1: Nacho Cheese Doritos - no contest
(two bags are a little blurry, they are Baked Lays, not like I'd pick those anyway)

Row 2: Chili-Cheese Fritos
(Lindsey would have gone for the Sun Chips here, if I'm dreaming I might as well go for it)

Row 3: Animal Crackers - even though that Gadetto's snack mix is awesome

Row 4: this is the row I would always spend the most time on, most of you are thinking I would go for the Twizzlers, but since I eat those often I'm going for the Snickers!

Row 5: this is the "healthy" row, which always throws me... I guess I'd go with the Peanuts, hmm maybe the Fig Newtons - oh look! there are Lindsey's favorite Snack Wells cookies on the end!

Row 6: can't really see what's on this row, but I know I'd go for the powdered donuts regardless
